When Guidelet captures your screen
Guidelet captures a still image after you ask a question or approve a capture. It does not continuously record video or audio. You can restrict a question to an area you select.
The macOS Screen Recording permission allows screen capture, but the permission itself does not cause continuous recording.
Information used for an answer
To answer, Guidelet sends the captured still image, your question, the detected app name, relevant follow-up context, and any area selection to the answer service. The answer service sends the necessary information to an artificial-intelligence provider that generates the response and visual locations.
If web search is enabled, the service may send your question and relevant context to a search provider and return source links. Turn web search off in the composer when it is not needed.
Information stored on your Mac
Answer history, saved lessons, app settings, capture approvals, and account session tokens are stored locally in Guidelet's application data. Session tokens are stored in a file restricted to your macOS user.
Guidelet does not store captured screenshots in its account database by default. A screenshot is retained locally only when you save content that includes it or export it yourself.
Account, usage, and device records
The account service stores your email address, authentication records, plan, approval state, and usage counters. Password handling and confirmation emails are provided by the account service; Guidelet does not store your password.
To limit each Mac to one Guidelet account, the app reads the Mac's platform identifier and immediately transforms it into a versioned one-way SHA-256 device code. The raw hardware identifier is never sent or stored. The one-way code and its account binding are retained until support deliberately releases the device.
Website and waitlist
If you join the beta waitlist, the website processes your email address and a short visual-verification result to prevent automated submissions and deliver waitlist messages. The website may load font resources from an external delivery service, which can receive ordinary connection information such as an IP address and browser details.
Service providers and international processing
Guidelet relies on service providers for answer generation, authentication and usage limits, optional search results, website hosting, and email delivery. They process information only to provide and secure those functions under their own contractual and legal obligations. Processing may occur outside your country with the safeguards required for the service and location.
Retention and security
Local content remains until you delete it or reset Guidelet. Account and usage records remain while the account is active and as needed for security, fraud prevention, support, or legal obligations. Waitlist records remain until removal or unsubscribe. Service providers may keep short-lived operational and security logs under their own retention rules.
Guidelet uses encrypted network connections and limits database access by role. No system can guarantee absolute security, so avoid placing information in a capture that is not needed for the question.
